Code of Ethical Pursuit
The
true nature of giving is revealed in the Holy Scriptures as being
related to humankind’s attitudes toward both God and fellow persons. Therefore,
we agree that our approach to donors should be done in a godly fashion
and that people should be encouraged to support our ministry from a
scriptural motivation. With this in mind, we submit ourselves to the following Christian Stewardship Association standards:
- Each member should have a commitment to
serve the cause of Jesus Christ in an efficient manner without
hindering the efforts of other established and functioning ministries.
- Each member should have a governing board of
active, responsible persons who hold regular meeting, create policy,
and maintain effective control.
- Methods of promotion and solicitation should
demonstrate high ethical standards and good manners befitting the
biblical injunction to “do to others as you would have them do to you.”
- The leadership and development staff of the
organization should be made up of Christian individuals who
consistently live a moral and biblical lifestyle.
- Annual audits of financial records should be
prepared by an outside professional CPA showing reasonable detail and
should be available upon demand. New organizations should have available for their publics a CPA’s statement that a proper financial system has been installed.
- Individuals or institutions shall not use
methods harmful to the public, such as exaggerated claims of
achievement, guaranteed results, and unreasonable promises.
- All members shall comply with Federal, State and Municipal regulations.
- All members shall employ representatives who
will conduct their activities within generally accepted professional
standards of accuracy, truth and good taste.
- All members shall employ representatives who will have objectives consonant with its program.
- All members shall employ representatives on
a predetermined standard fee or salary basis and will insist that the
employee manage personal data entrusted to him solely for the benefit
of the employer. Commission or percentage reimbursements for services rendered are deemed unethical and unprofessional practices in fundraising.
