Development 101 John R. Frank
People with no prior training or experience are taking development positions. Many are moving to development from other professions. This is a course for these members of the development team. This session will establish a biblical foundation for fund development, and explore the fundamentals of direct mail, foundation funding, major gift development, planned giving, and other topics necessary to begin your development journey. This course takes a comprehensive approach to teaching how to build stewardship relationships with your ministry.
This course is a prerequisite for the CSA Successful Annual Fundraising Course and is recommended as a prerequisite for other advanced courses.

John Frank is president of The Frank Group. He is a certified fundraising executive who holds a master’s degree in philanthropy and development. He has authored two books, The Ministry of Development and The Monthly Partner, and articles on development and leadership. He publishes BOARDWISE, a national newsletter on boards for nonprofits.

Gift and Estate Design Ray Lyne
Assisting with estate design and planned giving is part of successful integrated plans for receiving donations. This course develops a biblical theology for estate and gift design, and guides professionals to the skills, giftings, and processes that are critical in an estate design program.

Major Donor Development Pat McLaughlin
Major donor programs are part of successful, integrated plans for receiving donations. This course addresses the philosophies and strategies needed to create, manage, and evaluate a successful major donor program.

Patrick G. McLaughlin is a founder and president of The Timothy Group, a fullservice stewardship agency. Previous positions include director of development of Youth For Christ, vice president for advancement of Colorado Christian University, and vice president of a national consulting firm. He serves on several national teaching faculties, including CSA.

Biblical Foundations for Development Professionals Mark L. Vincent, CSP
Ministry development professionals need a clear and deep understanding of the biblical message of stewardship. This course helps students develop their abilities to understand and articulate biblical stewardship, their own journey toward becoming a steward, and the connection to the call and work of development. Class discussion and case studies will be included to make connections with current issues. This course sets the theological foundation toward becoming a Certified Stewardship Professional.

He is editor of Giving: Growing Joyful Stewards in Your Congregation of the Ecumenical Stewardship Center.

Executive Leadership R. Scott Rodin, PhD
Ministry leadership is an increasingly demanding call. Whether you’re a chief development officer (CDO), chief executive officer (CEO) or board chair, the pressures and challenges are mounting as we seek to lead our institutions with wisdom, faithfulness, and courage. This advanced level track is specially designed to bring together ministry leaders who wish to refresh their spirits and hone the skills they will need for key challenges in management and the marketplace. This is not a lecture-based track. We will pull from best practices in our field and will integrate the experiences and interactions of participants. The goal is for every participant to leave here with gained spiritual strength and professional insights to better equip them for the demanding call to ministry leadership.

Dr. Rodin has served as fundraising counsel to more than 100 organizations in the United States and England. His expertise lies in leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, board development, and organizational effectiveness.
